The Customer Service Team at The Sage Gateshead will be happy to help you in person or on the telephone, seven days a week – 10am-8pm on show days and 10am-6pm on non show days.

By Post

You can send us a letter detailing your ticket requirements to The Sage Gateshead, St. Mary’s Square, Gateshead Quays, NE8 2JR. Please state which performances (date and time) and which ticket area you require, include any specific requirements (e.g. aisle seat), and ensure your name, address, phone number and cheque guarantee card number is on the reverse of your cheque, made payable to The Sage Gateshead.

Concessions

Concessions for under 16s, students, people over 60 and unemployed (receiving job seekers allowance) are available for many of our performances.

Children under 2 may sit on your lap and therefore do not require a ticket, unless attending under 5s sessions, family events, family performances or workshops.
For every performance, one free ticket is available for the essential carer of those who need assistance to attend the performance. Ask our Ticket Office for details and bookings.

Group Bookings

For many of our concerts, you can book ten full price tickets and receive the eleventh ticket free.  We also welcome coach parties.

Terms & Conditions

Payments

Payments can be made by cash (in person only), cheque, (made payable to The Sage Gateshead) or the following credit and debit cards – Visa, MasterCard, Visa Delta, Maestro, and Electron. Tickets must be paid for at the time of booking, tickets cannot be reserved.

Handling Fee and Postal Charges

  • Handling Fee for telephone, internet and postal bookings £2.50 per transaction
  • Handling Fee for in person bookings – Free of Charge
  • Charge for posting tickets to a patron (2nd class) – Free of Charge
  • Additional charge for First Class post – £0.50

The Handling Fee does not apply to Workshops, the purchase of Gift Certificates, Under 5s, Buses, Tours, free events and Exploring Music Sessions. Handling Fees will be retained in the event of an exchange or refund.

If the performance is within seven days, tickets will be held care of Ticket Office and may be collected on presentation of the debit/credit card used to make your booking or appropriate proof of identification. Tickets will be posted to customers upon request by second class standard post.

Refunds

Please note we are unable to offer refunds except in the event of a cancelled performance. The Sage Gateshead reserves the right to substitute artists and alter the advertised programme without prior notice. This does not affect your statutory rights. Handling Fees will be retained in the event of a refund.

Exchanges

Tickets may be exchanged for seats for the same or higher price for a performance of the same production up to 24 hours before the performance. Exchanges are strictly subject to availability. A £2.50 handling fee will be charged per transaction. All original tickets must be produced before an exchange can be processed. Handling Fees will be retained in the event of an exchange.

Ticket Re-sales

The Sage Gateshead will accept tickets for re-sale when a performance has sold out. The Sage Gateshead is not able to guarantee any ticket offered for re-sale will find a new purchaser. Re-sales are undertaken at the customers own risk. This service is only available if the tickets are first returned to Ticket Office prior to the performance. If tickets are successfully re-sold the customer will receive credit on account to the value of the tickets less a £2.50 re-sale fee. If the tickets are not re-sold a credit on account will not be given. It is the responsibility of the customer to contact Ticket Office to see if their tickets have been re-sold. The Sage Gateshead will not contact them. Tickets are the responsibility of the customer while they are in the post so recorded delivery is advisable. Tickets should be marked for the attention of Ticket Office.

The resale of The Sage Gateshead tickets for profit or commercial gain will render them invalid.
In exceptional circumstances The Sage Gateshead reserves the right to offer alternative seats to those specified on the tickets.

Latecomers

If you arrive later than the advertised start time or you need to leave the auditorium for any reason then you may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance before you can take your seat – this may be the interval. Depending on the show we may be unable to admit latecomers at all. The Sage Gateshead reserves the right to refuse admission to any visitor.

Discounts/Concessions/Special Offers

Patrons must state discounts they are entitled to at the time of booking, as they cannot be applied retrospectively. The management reserves the right to introduce discounts and other price changes without notice. Discounts and special offers may be limited or subject to availability. Concessionary rates do vary according to performance, so please check with Ticket Office when booking.
Promotional codes and special offers cannot be applied to tickets that have been already booked.

Safety & Enjoyment

The Sage Gateshead’s photography policy:

Classical performances: No photography policy.

Non Classical: – We allow non professional, non flash photography in the auditoria, unless a no photography policy is asked for at the request of visiting artists, which will be announced via tannoy and or signage and enforced by the Customer Service Team during the performance. Professional photography (SLR with changeable lens) which has not been prearranged and filming of any kind is prohibited.

For professional photographers that have permission to take pictures in the halls the guidelines we expect them to follow are as follows: Photography permitted for first 3 songs only with no flash. If professional photographers are disturbing the audience in any way (eg. Standing in the line of sight, making lots of noise) the customer services team will approach then and ask them to stop.

Cameras and or recording devices are not permitted into any performance at The Sage Gateshead.

Strobe lighting, smoke effects, loud noises & special effects are sometimes used in performances; There will be external Hall signage if this is the case.
Mobile phones, pagers and other electronic equipment must be switched off during the performance.

In the seats on sides of Levels 2 and 3, you have to lean forwards to obtain a full view of the stage. Please ask our staff for more information.

To ensure our customers safety we may conduct occasional security searches, which include searching your bag before entering the Halls.
We reserve the right to refuse admission or to remove audience members at our discretion including, for example, where your behaviour may affect other peoples’ enjoyment of the performance.

Please take care of all personal property brought into the building.

You may take water in plastic bottles into the auditorium. Other items of food or drink are only allowed on medical grounds, please ask the Duty Manager.
Animals other than Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs are not allowed in the auditorium.

Unauthorised trading within the building is not allowed.

The entire building is a non-smoking area.

We recommend that you double check performance details before you travel as they may be subject to change.

As a member of the audience you may be filmed, photographed or recorded for broadcasts, security or health and safety reasons.

Every member of the audience must possess a valid ticket.

Tickets that have been altered or defaced will be deemed invalid and you may be refused entry. We reserve the right to alter the location of your seat without prior notice. Should this be necessary we will reimburse any reduction in value between your original seat and your new location.

If you have complaints relating to any aspect of the performance please contact the Duty Manager as soon as possible, preferably before the performance or during the event – any of the Stewards in the Hall will be able to find the Duty Manager for you.

Ticket Office Opening Hours

Ticket Office is open is open Monday to Sunday 10am – 6pm on non show nights. On show nights it is open for 30 minutes after the start of the last performance.

Building Opening Hours

The Sage Gateshead is open for an average of 14 hours every day, seven days a week.
9am -10pm non show nights during term time
9am – 9pm non show nights during school holidays.
9am -11pm show nights
9am-10pm non show nights

The Sage Gateshead reserves the right to fully or partially close the building for conferencing or maintenance purposes.

Infants’ & Under 16s’ Policy

Everyone under 16 years of age needs a valid ticket to see events and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. People aged 3 – 15 are eligible for Under 16 ticket price reductions where available; 2 & under 2s (babes-in-arms) are free unless attending under 5s sessions, Family events, performances and workshops where the ticket will be at full price.

Please check age suitability when booking (over the phone or on the relevant web page) as not all events are suitable for all age groups.

The Sage Gateshead Gift Certificates

  • Gift Certificates can only be redeemed in person or over the phone at The Sage Gateshead Ticket Office.
  • Gift Certificates may be used as whole or part payment for tickets to the value indicated on the voucher.
  • Gift Certificates can only be redeemed against performances.
  • Gift Certificates cannot be exchanged for other goods or cash or be applied retrospectively to the payment of tickets that have already been purchased.
  • Once the Certificate has been redeemed it will become invalid and cannot be used again.
